Returns policy

30-day return window

You may return any standard-stock item within 30 days of the delivery date for a refund or exchange. The 30-day window starts on the date the carrier marks the shipment as delivered to your address.

How to start a return

Email sales@aumictech.com with your order number or RFQ reference and the reason for the return. We will respond within one business day with a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number and return shipping instructions. Do not ship anything back without an RMA — unannounced returns may be refused at our dock.

Condition requirements

Returned items must arrive in the same condition they were shipped. This means:

  • All accessories, cables, and documentation included in the original shipment must be returned
  • No new physical damage, rack rash, or modifications introduced after receipt
  • Original packaging used where possible; if you do not have the original box, pack the instrument securely — we will advise on packaging if needed
  • Calibration certificate included if one was provided

If a returned item arrives in worse condition than it was shipped, we reserve the right to reduce the refund to reflect the change in condition.

Restocking fee

A 15% restocking fee applies to all returns unless the return is due to our error (wrong item shipped, item does not match the listing, or item arrives with a defect present at time of shipment). The restocking fee covers inspection, re-testing, and re-listing the unit. It is deducted from your refund.

Return shipping costs

Return shipping is at the buyer's expense unless the return is due to our error, in which case we provide a prepaid FedEx or UPS label. We recommend insuring the return shipment for its full value — if a unit is lost or damaged in return transit and was not insured, we cannot issue a full refund.

Refund processing

Once the returned item is received and inspected (typically within 2 business days of arrival), we process the refund. Refunds are issued to the original payment method:

  • ACH / wire refunds: 1 – 3 business days
  • Credit card refunds: 3 – 7 business days depending on your bank
  • PayPal refunds: 1 – 3 business days

We will email you when the refund is initiated.

Exchanges

If you would prefer a different unit rather than a refund, we are happy to arrange an exchange. Contact us with your RMA request and note that you want an exchange — we will hold a suitable replacement while we process the return. If the replacement is higher in value, you pay the difference; if lower, we refund the difference.

Non-returnable items

The following cannot be returned:

  • Items listed and sold as "as-is" or "for parts / not working"
  • Software licenses and firmware upgrades
  • Consumables (fiber connectors, cleaning supplies, calibration standards used during testing)
  • Custom-configured instruments or special-order sourced items
  • Items returned after the 30-day window without prior authorization

Warranty claims vs. returns

If your instrument develops a fault within 30 days of delivery, that is a warranty claim, not a standard return. Under our 30-day warranty we will repair, replace, or refund at our discretion — and we cover the shipping both ways. Email us with a description of the fault and we will get it resolved quickly.
