Shipping policy

Processing time

Orders confirmed by 2 PM ET Monday through Friday ship the same business day. Orders confirmed after 2 PM or on weekends and holidays ship the next business day. If an item requires additional testing or preparation before shipment, we will notify you by email with a revised ship date.

Packaging

Every instrument ships double-boxed with foam-in-place or custom foam inserts sized to the unit. We do not reuse inadequate packaging. For delicate optical instruments (OSAs, tunable lasers, wavelength meters), we use anti-static foam and orientation arrows. If we have the original manufacturer packaging, we use it. Calibration certificates and any included accessories are packed inside the inner box.

Carriers and service levels

We ship via FedEx, UPS, and DHL for standard domestic and international parcels. USPS Priority Mail is available for small accessories. For heavy instruments (over 70 lb) or rack-mount equipment, we use freight carriers (YRC, XPO, or your preferred carrier). Freight shipments are palletized and wrapped.

We will quote the most economical service that safely gets your instrument there on time. If you need a specific carrier or service level (e.g., FedEx Priority Overnight, UPS 2nd Day Air), let us know at order time and we will accommodate it.

Shipping costs

Shipping is quoted separately on each order based on the instrument dimensions, weight, destination, and service level selected. The shipping cost is confirmed in your formal quote before payment. For freight shipments, we can also arrange customer pickup from our facility in Downingtown, PA.

Shipping insurance

We strongly recommend shipping insurance on all instruments valued over $500. Insurance is available at a low cost relative to the instrument value and covers loss or damage in transit. We will add insurance by default unless you opt out in writing. If an insured shipment arrives damaged, we will file the claim and coordinate the resolution on your behalf.

Risk of loss — FOB origin

All shipments are FOB origin (Downingtown, PA) unless otherwise agreed in writing. Title and risk of loss transfer to the buyer at the moment the carrier takes possession. Once the carrier has the package, any loss or damage is between you and the carrier (or the insurance policy). We will provide all documentation needed to support a claim.

Tracking

A tracking number is emailed to you as soon as the shipment is picked up. For freight orders, we provide the PRO number and carrier contact. You can also view tracking from your account page if you placed the order while logged in.

International shipping

We ship internationally via FedEx International Priority, UPS Worldwide, and DHL Express. The buyer is responsible for all import duties, customs fees, VAT, and any required import licenses or permits. We declare the accurate commercial value on all customs forms — we do not under-declare for customs purposes.

Export of certain test and measurement equipment may require a U.S. export license under EAR. We will notify you if your order requires an export review and work with you to obtain any required documentation. This may add lead time to your order.

Freight class and NMFC

For freight shipments, we classify items accurately per NMFC guidelines. Most test equipment ships as Class 70 or 85. We provide the bill of lading and freight class documentation with every freight order. If your facility has a dock or lift gate requirement, please advise us so we can arrange the correct service.
