Agilent 86120C multi-wavelength meter repair
The Agilent 86120C is the updated version of the 86120B multi-wavelength meter - same interferometric measurement principle, improved power accuracy, and broader wavelength range support. It’s used for DWDM system testing, amplifier characterization, and multi-channel laser testing in photonics R&D and telecom labs. Keysight’s support for the 86120C has ended.
The 86120C’s reference laser is the most critical component and the first thing to check when wavelength accuracy is out of spec. These are typically stabilized HeNe or diode references - they age and drift, and a drifted reference produces a systematic wavelength offset across all measured channels. Power accuracy issues trace to detector degradation or connector contamination on the input port. The 86120C has more capable power measurement than the 86120B, which also means more potential failure points in the power measurement path.
We verify wavelength accuracy against NIST-traceable reference sources across the measurement band, test power accuracy at multiple power levels, and inspect the input optical path. Reference laser assessment, connector service, interferometer alignment check, and NIST-traceable calibration complete the service.
