HP 70952B optical spectrum analyzer repair

The HP 70952B is the benchtop-configuration HP optical spectrum analyzer in the 70952 series, covering 600 to 1700 nm with adjustable RBW, multiple trace functions, and GPIB remote control. HP discontinued support years ago; these instruments are entirely in the independent service market.

Sensitivity loss from optical path contamination and aging detectors is the most common failure. Grating assembly wear causes wavelength accuracy to drift and sweep behavior to become erratic. The GPIB board is a known failure point on older units - contact oxidation and IC aging cause communication failures that prevent remote operation. Power supply capacitor aging causes intermittent reboots and voltage instability on the analog signal chain.

We test each 70952B against calibrated DFB references, check sensitivity, RBW accuracy, wavelength accuracy, and GPIB communication. Component-level board repair, optical cleaning and alignment, and NIST-traceable calibration complete the service. Cal cert included.

Flat-rate estimate: $100. Turnaround 1–3 days. Ships worldwide.
