Photonetics Walics 3651HR12 optical spectrum analyzer repair
The Photonetics Walics 3651HR12 is a C-band and L-band OSA optimized for dense WDM applications - 1450 to 1650 nm, 0.02 nm minimum RBW, and 80 dB dynamic range at ±2 nm. Photonetics was acquired and the product line discontinued; independent service is the only repair path for these instruments.
The 3651HR12 uses a high-resolution diffraction grating and precision mechanics to achieve its 0.02 nm RBW floor, which makes it more mechanically sensitive than lower-resolution instruments. Grating assembly wear and vibration-induced misalignment cause wavelength accuracy to drift outside the ±40 pm specification. Sensitivity degradation from optical path contamination is common on instruments that haven’t been serviced in years. The Ethernet interface - uncommon on instruments of this era - can develop firmware or network stack issues that prevent remote operation.
We test each 3651HR12 against calibrated C-band DFB references, verify wavelength accuracy, dynamic range in both modes, and all interface ports. Optical cleaning, grating realignment, component-level board repair, and NIST-traceable calibration complete the service. Cal cert included.
Flat-rate estimate: $100. Turnaround 1–3 days. International shipping available.
