The Burleigh WA-1100 extends the WA-1000's measurement range further into the visible spectrum, supporting applications from blue laser characterization to near-IR telecom work. Same Michelson interferometer architecture with HeNe reference - same measurement principle, same failure modes. These instruments are found in spectroscopy labs, laser development, and calibration facilities. HeNe reference laser aging is the primary failure mode on the WA-1100, just as on the WA-1000. The broader wavelength range of the WA-1100 means that a drifted reference can produce errors across a wider range of applications, and the errors may be noticed sooner if users are checking against known atomic lines. Interferometer optical path degradation - dust on the beamsplitter, mirror misalignment from shipping or thermal cycling - is the second most common problem. Input fiber connector wear affects the power into the interferometer and can cause mode interference problems. We test the HeNe reference stability, check interferometer alignment across the measurement range, and verify accuracy at multiple wavelengths against NIST-traceable atomic references. Reference tube replacement if needed, optical cleaning, alignment service, and NIST-traceable calibration complete the work.
