Yokogawa AQ6370 optical spectrum analyzer repair

The AQ6370 is the instrument that replaced Ando’s AQ6317 line when Yokogawa took over - 600 to 1700 nm, 0.02 nm RBW, faster sweep, and a more modern interface. Yokogawa still sells current-generation successors, but the original AQ6370 is out of the support window and repair quotes from Yokogawa on older units are often not worth it.

The AQ6370’s most common hardware failure is the internal hard drive. These units ship with standard 2.5” spinning HDDs, and the drives fail after years of use in the same way laptop drives do - slow boot times, filesystem errors, eventual failure to boot at all. We replace the drive with an SSD before recalibration. Beyond the HDD, sweep motor problems and monochromator alignment drift are the next most frequent issues. Communication port failures (GPIB and LAN) also show up on units that have lived in busy lab environments.

We diagnose each unit with calibrated DFB sources at 1310 and 1550 nm, check sweep repeatability, sensitivity floor, and dynamic range. If the HDD is worn, we image it to SSD as part of the service. Board-level repairs follow for any electronics faults. Optical path cleaning and monochromator alignment are included. NIST-traceable calibration with cal cert closes the job.

Flat-rate estimate: $100, applied toward repair. Turnaround 1–3 days. International shipping available.
