Agilent 86141B optical spectrum analyzer repair
The 86141B is the high-speed production variant in the Agilent 86140 family - 40 nm per 56.3 ms sweep rate, 70 dB dynamic range, and a filter mode that isolates individual DWDM channels for time-resolved chirp measurement. It was designed for component test lines running at production throughput. Keysight’s support window for the 86141B is closed; we handle these repairs in-house.
Fast sweep rates accelerate grating motor and encoder wear on the 86141B compared to slower OSAs. The grating assembly and stepper system need periodic alignment and eventual motor replacement on heavily used production units. The filter mode optics are sensitive to contamination - even small amounts of particulate on the filter path cause insertion loss errors that show up as incorrect channel power readings. Boot failures on older 86141B units are typically caused by power supply capacitor aging.
We test each 86141B against calibrated DFB references at 1310, 1550, and 1625 nm, verify sweep speed, dynamic range, and filter mode performance. Component-level board repair, optical cleaning, grating realignment, and NIST-traceable calibration complete the service. Cal cert included.
Flat-rate estimate: $100, applied toward repair. Turnaround 1–3 days. Ships worldwide.
