Ando AQ6315B optical spectrum analyzer repair

The AQ6315B is the B-revision of Ando’s broadband OSA - 400 to 1750 nm with a 0.05 nm minimum RBW. It was widely deployed in photonics and semiconductor labs that needed both visible and near-infrared coverage. Ando support ended years ago, so field repairs and calibration fall entirely on independent service providers.

Grating motor failure is the most common hardware problem on the AQ6315B - either the motor seizes, or the encoder loses position and sweeps become inaccurate or non-repeatable. CRT display failure is the second most common issue; these tubes are aging and die in predictable ways (brightness loss, horizontal convergence errors, complete failure). On the electronics side, sweep control board capacitors are the usual suspects for intermittent boot and sweep issues. The 400 nm end of the range is also more sensitive to optical path contamination than the telecom-wavelength instruments.

Our process: full bench diagnostic with sources at both ends of the range plus telecom references, component-level board repair, optical path cleaning and alignment, monochromator adjustment. NIST-traceable calibration closes the service with a cal cert showing before-and-after data.

Estimate: $100 flat-rate, applied toward repair. Turnaround 1–3 days. Ships FedEx/UPS/DHL worldwide.
