Agilent 86146B optical spectrum analyzer repair

The Agilent 86146B combines the double-pass monochromator of the 86140-family with a single DWDM channel filter mode and SCPI-over-LAN control - designed for automated production test lines where software-controlled channel isolation and fast throughput both matter. The 86146B is past Keysight’s support window.

The filter mode adds optical path complexity that isn’t present in simpler monochromator-only OSAs. Filter mode insertion loss increases as the optical path accumulates contamination, and the filter mechanism itself can develop mechanical play that affects channel isolation accuracy. Standard failures are shared with the 86140 family: grating assembly wear, sensitivity loss, boot issues, and connector wear on the FC/APC input port. The LAN interface is the only remote control port, so LAN board failure makes the unit unable to run in automated test setups.

We test each 86146B against calibrated references, verify filter mode performance and channel isolation, check sensitivity, dynamic range, and LAN communication. Component-level board repair, optical cleaning and grating alignment, and NIST-traceable calibration complete the service. Cal cert included.

Flat-rate estimate: $100. Turnaround 1–3 days. Ships worldwide.
