Agilent 86145B Optical spectrum analyzer repair
Agilent 86145B optical spectrum analyzer repair
The Agilent 86145B adds an internal acetylene gas cell calibrator to the 86145 platform, pushing wavelength accuracy to ±0.01 nm in the C-band without an external reference source. That makes it one of the most accurate OSAs in its class for 50 GHz DWDM system characterization. The 86145B is past Keysight's support window.
The gas cell calibrator adds a failure mode that simpler OSAs don't have: the gas cell itself can degrade over time, affecting wavelength accuracy in C-band measurements. If the cell fails, the unit falls back to standard calibration accuracy - still usable, but the primary specification advantage disappears. Grating assembly wear and optical path contamination cause the same sensitivity and wavelength drift issues seen on other 86140-family instruments. Communication port failures (LAN and GPIB) are also common on older units.
We test each 86145B against calibrated C-band DFB references, verify gas cell calibration performance, check sensitivity, dynamic range, and chop mode. Component-level board repair, optical cleaning and alignment, and NIST-traceable calibration complete the service. Cal cert included.
