Ericsson FSU 995FA Fusion splicer repair
Ericsson FSU 995FA fusion splicer repair
The Ericsson FSU 995FA is the top-spec fully automatic splicer in the FSU lineup - faster cycle time than the 975FA, tighter splice loss spec, and heavier construction built for field deployment conditions. These units were used heavily in fiber rollouts and have logged high arc counts.
The 995FA's combination of speed and precision means it's more sensitive to electrode and motor wear than lower-throughput splicers. Electrode erosion at high arc counts causes arc center drift and inconsistent splice quality that doesn't always show up in the loss estimate. Motor positioning drift after millions of alignment cycles causes systematic horizontal or vertical alignment errors. Display failures, battery degradation, and interface board issues show up on field-worn units.
We test on both SM and multimode fibers, check arc stability, alignment repeatability, and splice loss across the full cycle. Electrode replacement, V-groove service, motor recalibration, arc calibration, and battery test complete the service. Final splice verification on test fibers confirms performance.
